I am Dr. Smart the brilliant scientist of the emote community. This is the first of 20 emoticon related news articles I hope to post in the next year between today (my 20th birthday) and February 10, 2013.

I know you see this on all kinds of journals but please this journal to help spread the word

Pozdrav! I'm not going to tell you my name because it makes up most of my username I'm an English Emoticonist and I've been creating Emoticons for about 3 years now.   I love Monsters and tea, and I'm very excited to be interviewed!

So steph you were an inspiration to me when i was a begining emoticonist, could you tell me of any deviants who were a big inspiration for you when you first started?

I'm honoured to have been an inspiration - I hope I did a good job!

For me there was a few people who really inspirited me when I was getting started, I remember I first saw `CookiemagiK's emotes in particular and they really inspired me to create, as is the case with a lot of people I think. He was the Emoticonist who indirectly got me into Emoticons - I saw his creations and really wanted to give it a go!

The support that I was also given by a lot of other Emoticonists was a huge inspiration too. Especially when one would leave me a comment or involve me in something, I really felt like I belonged and that encouraged me to continue creating and improving as much as I could.

Little steoh is your emote OC tell me why her name has an o, is their a story behind it?

Prepare for a story that contains the most unoriginal naming of an OC ever. I called Steoh what she is because I couldn't decide on a name, so I just swapped the P from my name with an O and that was it. There you go, I warned you!

speaking of Steoh, she is depicted as an angel, would you say you are also of angelic qualities or are more of a little devil in disguise

I'd like to think so! I did have the nickname 'Saint Steph' that was given to me by friends a few years ago, so maybe. Who knows.

So a genius scientist emote, and an angel emote walk into a bar, whats the punchline?

youve been a deviant for 4 years! can you tell me what your favorited experience on dA was?

I have! Sometimes I feel like time has flew by, other times it feels like I've been here for ever. Very strange. I think my most favourite experience on dA was when I helped out with a chat event #fella held. It was just incredible seeing so many deviants in one place having such a good time, being supportive of each other and making friends. It was fantastic.

you have some amazing emotes show me your favorite and least favorite pieces from your gallerry?

Ooh this is a tricky one. I think my favourite one is this:



I like it most because I think I'm most happy with how the end result came out. It was a bit tricky to pull off, but I'm satisfied with the result.

My LEAST favourite emote is probably this one:



The reason being that I've just never really been completely happy with it. Every time I see it I see lots of flaws and awkward points about it. I really need to sort it out!

what would you have done differently with the pieces you showed.


8. For the Emote I chose as my favourite... I'm not entirely sure. There are things that I might have wanted to change about it at the time, but I'm not sure at the moment. Maybe the time it takes for the Emote to put down the lid, and the length of time he holds the stressball for.

As for the Emote I said I dislike most, there's a few things. First off the ? above the emotes head - I'd remove the white outline and possibly change the colour of the symbol itself. I'd also change the positioning of the yellow Emote's hands, and maybe mess with the facial expression a bit.


what do you love about them even the one thats your least fav.

Despite it being my least favourite, I quite like the expression on the green emote. For my favourite Emote I like the animation, and the way the ball throwing/bouncing worked out.

last question and probably the most important one, you have not been submitting emotes or other art very frequently as of late, do you plan to start posting more art soon? your dedicated fans need to know

I plan on doing so very soon. Recently a few things have happened which have gotten my motivation back, I can't wait to get back into creating them! I've missed it.
